At Oxygens, we take pride in the fact that our hyperbaric chambers are not mass-produced or shipped in bulk from overseas. Every chamber we supply is a result of careful design, engineering expertise, and testing carried out right here in the UK.
Our engineers bring years of manufacturing experience into every stage of development. The result? Chambers that are not only comfortable and reliable, but also designed with safety, durability, and ease of use at their core.
One of the questions we’re often asked is: “Why do Oxygens chambers use an external frame rather than an internal one?” Let’s explain.
The Problem With Internal Frames
For soft-shell hyperbaric chambers made with medical-grade TPU, any rigid internal frame creates serious risks:
-
Abrasion and Wear – Hard points inside the chamber scuff and thin the TPU coating, creating weak spots and potential leak paths.
-
Stress Concentration – Internal frames focus pressure at specific points, which accelerates fatigue and can cause seams to peel.
-
Safety Hazards – Rubbing surfaces generate TPU dust and fibres. In an oxygen-enriched space, this isn’t just a cleanliness issue – it’s a fire risk.
-
Cleaning Issues – Hard, rigid frames require harsh cleaners and fittings that are not TPU-friendly, leading to compatibility problems over time.
In short: adding a rigid frame inside a soft-shell chamber works against both safety and longevity.
The Oxygens Solution: External Frames
Instead of compromising the inside of the chamber, we use external cradles and frames. This design provides:
-
Full Structural Support – Stability during pressurisation and depressurisation without stressing the TPU.
-
Maximum Comfort Inside – A clean, smooth interior with no hard edges or abrasive contact points.
-
Easier Cleaning & Maintenance – The internal space is free of rigid fixings, so the TPU surface stays in excellent condition.
-
Longer Chamber Life – With stress and abrasion removed from the inside, the chamber material lasts longer and remains safer.
Best Practice Matters
Our design philosophy is always based on best practice for safety and durability. Where accessories are needed inside the chamber, we ensure:
-
Only soft, TPU-friendly pouches or holders are used.
-
Large, rounded contact surfaces prevent stress or rubbing.
-
All hoses and cables are sleeved and routed to avoid any wear points.
This way, you can enjoy your Oxygens chamber knowing it’s been designed with long-term safety and care in mind.
The Oxygens Difference
Unlike imported models, our chambers are designed by Oxygens in the UK, with safety features that come from real testing and manufacturing expertise. The use of external frames is just one example of how we go further to deliver chambers that are:
-
Safer
-
Longer lasting
-
Easier to use and maintain
That’s the Oxygens difference: high-quality design, proven safety, and transparent engineering – all built for our customers here in the UK. Contact us for more details.
