Safety, engineering & compliance

Safety & Compliance at Oxygens

At Oxygens, safety is built into every stage of our chamber design, manufacture, installation and aftercare. As a UK-based hyperbaric chamber manufacturer, we take a practical engineering-led approach to pressure safety, oxygen system safety, electrical conformity, user training and long-term servicing.

Our systems are designed for wellness, recovery and professional non-emergency environments. They are not sold as medical devices and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease.

Our Engineering Approach

Hyperbaric chambers involve pressure, airflow, oxygen delivery and electrical systems. For that reason, our approach is guided by recognised pressure safety and hyperbaric engineering principles, with requirements considered according to the specific product type, pressure rating, intended use and installation environment.

  • Pressure vessel design principles for human occupancy systems where relevant
  • Oxygen compatibility and safe oxygen system practice
  • UKCA/CE electrical conformity for supplied electrical components
  • Pressure testing and inspection processes appropriate to the chamber type
  • Emergency release and pressure relief systems
  • Operator training, manuals and safe-use documentation
  • Ongoing servicing and maintenance support

Important: Compliance requirements differ depending on whether the system is a soft-shell wellness chamber, a hard-shell 2.0 ATA pressure vessel, a business installation or a specific regulated workplace environment. Oxygens supports customers with product-specific guidance and documentation.

Soft-Shell Chambers

Our soft-shell mild hyperbaric chambers are designed for wellness and recovery use. These systems operate at lower pressures than hard-shell 2.0 ATA pressure vessels and include multiple safety features to support controlled use.

Controlled Pressure

Soft-shell systems are fitted with pressure control and relief features designed to maintain appropriate operating pressure during use.

Emergency Release

Primary and emergency pressure release systems are included to support safe depressurisation if required.

Clear User Controls

Visible gauges, controls and operating guidance are provided so users can understand normal operation and emergency procedures.

Installation & Handover

Customers receive setup guidance, handover training and instructions for safe everyday operation.

Hard-Shell 2.0 ATA Pressure Vessels

Our Winslet 2.0 ATA hard-shell chamber is a substantially engineered pressure vessel. For business customers, this requires a more detailed approach to inspection documentation, servicing and long-term pressure safety.

For qualifying Winslet business purchases, Oxygens includes a professionally prepared Written Scheme of Examination. This is prepared by an Oxygens Pressure Safe qualified engineer and independently reviewed and signed off by an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).

  • Written Scheme of Examination included with qualifying Winslet business orders
  • Prepared by an Oxygens Pressure Safe qualified engineer
  • Independently reviewed and signed off by an Incorporated Engineer
  • Designed to support PSSR compliance where applicable
  • Suitable for inclusion within business maintenance and inspection records

Pressure Testing & Inspection

Pressure testing and inspection requirements vary depending on the chamber model and pressure system. Applicable pressure vessels are tested and documented in line with the relevant requirements for that product type.

For hard-shell business installations, Oxygens provides additional documentation and guidance to support ongoing inspection, servicing and safe operation throughout the chamber’s service life.

Electrical & Oxygen System Safety

Supplied electrical components such as compressors, control panels and oxygen concentrators are selected with attention to electrical safety, reliability and UKCA/CE conformity where applicable.

Oxygen delivery systems are designed with oxygen safety in mind, including suitable materials, fittings, ventilation considerations and user guidance. Oxygen systems should always be used in accordance with the supplied instructions.

Oxygens chambers are not medical devices unless specifically stated otherwise. Customers using equipment in clinical, medical or regulated settings should ensure the installation and use comply with all relevant local, professional, insurance and regulatory requirements.
